Writing and good habits
Do you put everything on hold and throw everything you’ve got at a task until it’s done? That’s me. The great procrastinator and deadline diva, but it comes at a price.
This year I’ve let my fitness and healthy eating habits slide in order to reach my goal of publishing a novel. I work in a busy marketing job, so I have to write early mornings, late nights and on the weekends.
That’s meant sacrificing a lot of things, but it’s also meant I’ve used it as an excuse to not exercise and to snack way more often than I needed to. I’ve also got a troublesome Achilles tendon, so staying in bed and writing instead of going for a walk has been all too easy.
That’s all changing now though. Having reached my goal to publish my first novel (10 days to go-live!) improving my fitness and changing my eating habits is going to be my priority.
Don’t worry, I still plan to keep up the momentum with my writing. I’ve already put book two of Lady Marigold up for pre-order in April and I’m hoping to have the first book of my Lady Amelia mystery series out in late January.
But, I know I need to balance my writing with health and fitness—to make them equal priorities.
Now that I’ve got one novel published and all my author marketing (eg, website, social media, email list) set-up, I’ll be scheduling time to walk and work out. I’ll also be making time to meal plan and journal.
I love to cook and bake, and I enjoy walking and the gym. I’ll be sharing my progress in the coming weeks, so if you’re looking for a weight loss or fitness buddy, follow along and let’s trade tips and tricks
