A Roaring Murder is off to the editor
I did it! A Roaring Murder is off to the editor to hopefully find all the annoying typos and grammatical issues I’ve missed. This is my first novel to be published (I’ve written about a hundred others to varying states of completion) and it’s been a stressful few weeks to meet the editor’s deadline before publication day on 31 October.
I’m glad I put the pressure on myself, though. I needed it to get over the line. Without the deadline, A Roaring Murder probably wouldn’t have come out until next year.
Instead, it’s almost ready to go and I have a publishing plan for the next 12 months.
The catalyst for publishing was one of those life moments when you realise—it’s now or never.
I was sitting at a very sad funeral for a family friend who had died suddenly and was far too young. He had so many plans and goals for the future that were never realised.
I thought of all the unfinished manuscripts on my laptop—including A Roaring Murder—and realised I had to take action.
It feels equal parts exciting and terrifying to be an actual author!
There’s still a lot to be done, but it’s Sunday, the sun is shining after days of rain and there’s a gorgeous spring flower festival in my hometown, so I’m off to refill my well
